Social games were the flavor of 2010 and will be the flavor of 2011. I am planning to look at some of Social game developers and I start with Zynga. Zynga is one of the successful start-ups within the field of social gaming. The company was founded in 2007 and changed its name to Zynga in 2010.
Company’s mission: Connecting the word through games.
After 4 years, the company has more than 230 million monthly active users. Generated cash flow in 2010 was $326 million.
The games are accessible through social networks such as Facebook and MySpace and mobile platforms including iOS (iPhone), Android and mobile Web.
Large part of Zynga’s revenue is through Facebook and games such as FarmVille, CityVille, Zynga Poker and Mafia Wars have been popular since 2009 on Facebook.
The company announced it will fill for IPO in 2011 but later in August it was decided to delay the IPO.
